What Wegovy Pill is
Wegovy tablets (the Wegovy Pill) contain semaglutide, a GLP-1 receptor agonist: a medicine that acts on the hormone system involved in appetite regulation. Novo Nordisk makes it, and the MHRA authorised the tablet form for weight management on 11 June 2026.3

In its main clinical trial (OASIS 4), adults taking the 25mg daily tablet who stayed on treatment lost an average of 16.6% of their body weight over 64 weeks, compared with 2.8% for those making diet and lifestyle changes alone. Average trial results are not a prediction of individual results.1,2
In the same trial, 47% of people taking the 25mg tablet lost 15% or more of their body weight, compared with 5.4% of those on placebo.2

Side effects
The most commonly reported side effects are digestive: nausea, diarrhoea, constipation and vomiting, most often while the dose is increasing.
